CT
Scan

The CT scan department is equipped with a state of Art Dual Source Somatom Definition CT scanner from Siemens Germany. This was the first of its kind in India and fourth in the world. This revolutionary technique actually employs two CT scanners in one. This is so precise that images of the coronary arteries are obtained without the need to reduce heart rate. We have utilized this since 2007 and saved many lives of symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals by detecting coronary artery disease early. This CT scanner also performs all CT scan procedure such as CT scan of head, neck, paranasal sinuses, chest, abdomen, pelvis and bones. As it is a very high end scanner it is very good at performing angiography of any region of the body, head, neck, pulmonary, aorta, renal, upper and lower limb.

Dual energy scans

This machine as it has 2 CT scanners in 1 is able to perform precise Dual energy scans which are very useful in subtracting bone, in Angiograms, obtaining perfusion images of the lung especially in pulmonary embolism, determining composition of calculi, as well as detecting haemorrhage versus contrast in interventional procedures.

PREPARATION & SCAN

  • In cases of contrast study, blood test report of Serum Creatinine will be needed. This can be done on an immediate basis by giving blood at our hospital 30 minutes before the scan.
  • In case of contrast scans 2 hours of fasting is needed.
  • If abdomen & pelvis scan is being performed, the patient will be given oral liquid contrast 40 mins before the scan. In case the supervising consultant deems necessary a rectal contrast may be given.
  • Please inform the CT technologist/radiologist if there is any chance of the patient being pregnant.
  • Patients can take their regular medicines and follow their usual routine before the scan. In cases of contrast study if the patient is taking metformin, the patient has to stop taking metformin for 48 hours before and after the procedure.
  • Please bring all your old reports for comparison.

CT SCAN

  • As you arrive for your appointment, our resident doctor will meet you and take detailed history and collect your blood & old reports. You may use this opportunity to ask any queries you have about the scan.
  • The doctor will explain the scan, and the process we will follow. During scans brief intermittent periods of breath holding may be needed.
  • In cases of contrast study an IV line will be taken by our specialist sisters/doctors to ensure painless cannulation and a contrast agent (commonly called as dye) will be injected through the IV line. As we use the latest and best quality of contrast agents, any chance of contrast reaction is minimal.
  • In case IV line has been taken it will be removed and small band-aid applied. All your reports will be returned to you. The time of report collection will be intimated. In case of emergency scans, a provisional report can be provided so patients can consult their doctors immediately.
Monday - Friday8:30AM-8:00PM
